Sencha Skene: Musician, Author, and Follower of Vanatru
I am a musician and author, and follower of Vanatru. Having walked the Pagan path since 1976 and embraced the Druid path in 1978, my life has been a journey to nature, wisdom, and artistic expression. I have been a member of the Reformed Druids of Gaia since 2015 and was the founder of the Black Mountain Druid Order.
A Lifelong Journey of Spirituality and Creativity
For nearly five decades, I have explored and shared the ancient wisdom of Paganism and Druidry. My journey began with a deep connection to nature-based spirituality. Growing up on a farm in rural South Carolina in the 1960s, I never felt at home in a church, but the woods were and still are sacred to me. In 1976 I discovered nature-centered spirituality through the works of Native American teachers like Black Elk and Hemeyosts Storm, and in 1978 I joined the Emerald Coast Grove in Pensacola, which evolved into a lifelong devotion to the Druidic traditions of reverence for the Earth, poetic insight, and sacred ritual.
As a musician, my compositions are inspired by the rhythms of nature, mythological themes, and the timeless stories of the human spirit. My music blends traditional and contemporary elements, creating a unique soundscape that invites listeners into a world of harmony and introspection.
As an author, I have penned works that delve into the philosophy, practices, and mysteries of Pagan and Druidic spirituality including Animal Wisdom for Druids, Foundational Druidry, Pagan Mysticism, and The Druid, my first full-length novel. My writings are celebrated for their clarity, authenticity, and ability to make ancient wisdom accessible to modern readers with just a dash of humor.
Contributions to the Pagan and Druidic Communities
I have been a practitioner, a teacher, and guide for those seeking a deeper connection to the spiritual world. I have been involved in the Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans (CUUPs) for decades and I lead a CUUPs group in Tacoma, Washington. I am a frequent speaker at Pagan Pride Day events and I am the former chief and founder of the Black Mountain Druid Order. My workshops, performances, and writings have inspired countless individuals to explore their own spiritual paths.
Whether through my music or my books, my goal is to inspire others to embrace the beauty of the natural world and the wisdom of ancient traditions. I hope that my work is a beacon for those on a spiritual journey, reminding us all of the power of creativity and connection.
